As your Doula, I will agree that I will be on-call 24 hours a day beginning two weeks before the estimated
due date and ending two weeks after the estimated due date. I will not choose to become unavailable during
that time or travel more than one hour away from home during that time. If, in an unforseen emergency
situation, I am unable to attend your birth, I will have a back-up available.
What I will do as your Doula
Before Labor Begins
Give evidence-based information regarding possible interventions.
Help with preparation of a birth plan.
Give exercise and physical suggestions to make pregnancy more comfortable.
Be available on an On-Call basis to answer questions or provide emotional support.
During Labor and Birth
Strive to help establish and maintain a calm and peaceful birth environment.
Offer massage and other non-pharmacological pain relief measures.
Offer positioning suggestions during labor and birth, and provide physical support.
Help support your birth partner, or team, so that they can love and encourage you
Give explanations of medical procedures.
Encourage communication between you and your medical providers by suggesting questions and offering information.
Take Pictures of the birth, as you desire. *
After the Birth
Stay at the hospital or at your home through the first breastfeeding. (normally 1-2 hours)
Provide emotional support for the family as you process your birth experience.
Answer basic questions about newborn care.
Provide referrals for any additional support that you may need.
Provide pictures taken on a jump drive.*
What I do NOT do!
Offer medical advise.
Offer Medical diagnosis.
Perform any clinical skills.
Speak to your medical care providers on your behalf.
Client Obligations
Participate in a Childbirth Education Class.
Prepare a Birth Plan and Prenatal Questionnaire.
Call me as soon as labor begins so that I can make preparations to attend your birth.
Call when you are ready for me to join you. (Doulas always bring great presence to the Birth-Day Party!)
Fees and Payment
My fee for Doula services is $600.00 A deposit of $200.00 will be taken upon the execution of the contract with the balance due payable at two weeks before the estimated due date. You may terminate this contract up to one month before the due date without forfeiting the deposit. If you choose to terminate the contract within two weeks of your EDD, you will forfiet all deposits.
* As your doula I will take photographs of the birth with your camera or mine, or both. I will provide all pictures I take on a jump drive that you supply, but will not edit them or create a slideshow. As a doula client, editing services are available for an additional $50.00.

Being present at a birth, being
allowed to participate in
something so intimate and
beautiful and holy, never gets
old. There is a moment, right
before the baby comes, when I
mentally step back and just soak
in the miracle that is about to
happen. Not just the birth of the
baby, but the transformation of
a family. Women become
